What do you get when you cross Bonnie Raitt with Janis Joplin? You'd have a
good description of the truly amazing CAROLINE AIKEN. Her musical biography
reads like a journey through the post Woodstock annals of rock and folk. After
30+ years of performance under her belt, Caroline says "Now it feels like
flying." She has served as an inspiration for a generation of artists, including
the Indigo Girls. Her live performances are astonishing and she is known for her
ability to "Jaw drop a crowd" with her soaring dark hued voice, spellbinding
guitar work and her powerful stage presence. Caroline graces her songs of
loss, love and regeneration with penetrating awareness and frank eroticism.
(Tacoma Press)
Caroline has opened for, played with and recorded with Bonnie Raitt and the
Indigo Girls, opened for Muddy Waters, Randy Newman, Leo Kottke, Arlo Guthrie,
David Bromberg, Little Feat and Jerry Jeff Walker, to name a few. Aiken has
performed recently at the Georgia Music Hall of Fame with the B52s and was
nominated as best acoustic guitar player, singer songwriter in the SE by the Coca
Cola Awards, as well as being a presenter, with Elton John as guest speaker.
Kerrville Festival (TX) has had her perform Mainstage since *95,
Caroline has independently produced 5 CDs, two of which were chosen by
Performing Songwriter Magazine as top "Do-It-Yourself" releases.
"Caroline is the first musician to take me in... she has wisdom and she
shares it," says Amy Ray of the Indigo Girls. Pierce Pettis, Grammy nominated
writer and performer says, "She's dangerous, she'll blow the doors off the place."
Victory Music in Seattle says, "Sensual voice, expert guitar, masterful
songwriting."
