When I signed up for this list, I thought it was about music. It's a
shame it's being tainted with partisan politics.. If I wanted this, I'd
have signed up for a political list.. I guess I'll just unsubscribe..
Art has always been about politics - check your history - songs have always
reflected the times - as paintings and theatre has as well. Otherwise we would
not have had such great works come our way - the 50's, 60's and 70's in
particular had some great political songs that are now classics!
Just because you may be on one side of the aisle versus another doesn't mean
a list about folk music (in particular known for its partisan views - Pete
Seeger, Woody Guthrie?? Bob Dylan??) should not include songs that happen to have
a political slant - geez, where's the freedom to speak our minds that most
of these songs incorporate in them in the first place?
It seems to me you may be on the wrong list - a folk music list showcasing
songs that don't have a point of view --- that's an oxymoron?!
