Hey:
Wow. I'm posting 2 days in a row.

"February" story?So... maybe 5 years ago...maybe more. I see an ad in The New
York Times that Nanci Griffith - THE Nanci Griffith - is gonna be doing an
IN-STORE at the Borders at Columbus Circle. So I went. So at the end of a very
nice set of music she actually signs DVDs and stuff - talking with each person
a bit. I don't remember how she came up - but Nanci and I started talking
about Dar. Nanci is a big Dar fan too. Nanci says " Yeah... You know the other
day February came on the radio - and I was thinking - wow - I wish I had
written that song. What a great song".Now that's a compliment.Nanci was very
sweet in person - sometimes meeting an artist can be terrific - and makes you
a bigger fan.I will resist the urge here to tell you the one or two stories
where I met a musician I liked and things didn't go so well. ( I always just
assume they were having a bad day - and in folk music this hardly ever happens
anyway ).Or some musicians may be so terribly shy that they don't much care
for meeting a bunch of strangers. This is more common than you would think - I
think anyway. On a different note:Do you know about this?Richard Shindell AND
Susan WernerSunday... July 26th 2009 $10Concerts Under The StarsUpper Merion,
PennsylvaniaNear Valley Forge ( I think )At the end of the Falcon Ridge Folk
Festival weekend. ( Susan will be doing both - so I guess she's going right
from one to the other ).Also ... on other dates...Poco, Erin McKeown, Richie
Havens, Jill Sobule and more.I am trying to figure out if I can work out the
trip directly from Falcon Ridge to Pennsylvania. But those of you who can go
should go. Damn. What a great double bill.Does anyone know if there's a chance
this thing might sell out in advance? I notice that you can buy tickets over
the web.Any info about what a person "in the know" does when going to this
venue would be appreciated. What time should I get there? Where should I sit?
Chair or no chair? That sort of thing.k...bye... Bob Patersonps - Nanci
Griffith has a new CD coming out. Visit her website - and stream it.
