I'm delurking to give a status report, as well. Since I was last active on the list, I've begun studying Geographic Information Science, because you may have heard or read (probably free and online someplace) that newspapers are struggling. I took an Urban Geography course at Glassboro State College in NJ as an undergrad during the early days of the Carter Administration, and?my teacher then is my adviser now. I'm finishing up my 3rd class of 21 credits and really enjoy the subject matter: GIS, New Urbanism, smart growth, etc. My best-case scenario will be merely to do that work at my current job, the Phila. Daily News, but I hope I'm prepared if I have to switch careers. So far, I have no official specialty, but I've done a lot of research, for class and personally, on cemeteries and land use. I started a blog about it because of school, and kept it up, at http://whistlingpastgraveyard.blogspot.com. I'm not as active with it as I'd like, but it's interesting to keep up with.
?? Haven't been to a show in forever, mostly because my partner has to get up early on Sundays for church, and because I work M-F nights. I did get to go to WXPN's event last year (hung out with old friend from here Chris Erikson).
?? We also took time out of our busy schedules last year and had a civil union in NJ! Yay for that! 23-plus years and counting, and now we're legit. (Though, true story, and another indication that civil union is NOT the same as real marriage: We have to present a copy of our civil union license to get the household discount for our car insurance.)
?? Because we're buying new windows, we're pinching pennies, so I haven't gotten many new cds, either. Got the new k.d. lang, new REM and a best-of compilation of Rosanne Cash. I'm trying to get reacquainted with some of my old classics.
? Hope all are well out there. BTW, note the new address. My Yahoo got infected with something and I got booted out from there. So far, so good with this one. And I'm on Facebook and MySpace, so stop by and say Hi!

When butterflies leave their silk palaces
And the scent of the garden blows
Towards Heaven's way,
Like the toils of man,
Those who worked for tomorrow
Will not miss the dreams of yesterday.
