I listened to the weather report and decided what the heck- Esther and I
took the river Line down to Camden just to see Dar at the WXPN yearly
festival.
I ran into Sharon as we were making our way to the stage for Dar's set.
She did a nice set- just way too short. It's one reason I don't go to many
of these festivals. I need more than 40 minutes of Dar- or anybody else I
really like to hear play.
She opened with a song from the new disc "It's Alright" then did "The
Babysitter's Here" followed by "Spring Street". She talked about Philly and
Camden and WXPN and Michaela Majoun all of whom have been great to her- and
she to them- over the years.
She also did "The One Who knows" and another new one "Buzzer".
She did a special request from the audience- "Iowa". She finished the set
with a rocking version of "Are You Out there" which she basically dedicated
to WXPN and her XPN while growing up.
Esther and I went over to the meet and greet and got a chance to say Hello
to Dar. I finally got to apologize for my obnoxious Poconut friends who
wouldn't shut up during Dar's set at the Bridgeton folk Festival in 2006.
she didn't remember that but she did remember having Poco set up on stage
behind her while she was still playing (they were delayed and the venue has
a very strict curfew- no lights)
I asked Dar if it was ever possible to have another show by Cry, Cry, Cry.
she answered that she loved that tour and thinks it will happen one day-
when a good enough cause comes up for a benefit. I'm looking forward to
that- I was lucky enough to get to 2 of those shows.
We took our leave of the festival at this point stopping to talk with Sharon
again on our way out.
