[dar-list] grateful that Dar is recording

this week, i was at Natalie Merchant at the Hiro Ballroom. Natalie, a
mother of a 4 year old, is contracting the same crud that Dar seems to
get from the preschoolers she hangs with. Natalie has been writing new
music but hasnt toured in 4 years. the crowd asked her for a cd and
she asked them for a new music industry paradigm. Natalie released her
last cd on her own indie label. She spoke about people who buy ONE cd
and burn 5 for friends. She talked about downloading and wanting the
art work. She reported it was almost impossible for her to make a new
cd.

I left there sad about that because NM has incredible new songs but
also thankful that Dar is recording with Razor and Tie and keeps
making cds. Knowing that NM is around NY maybe she can visit Dar and
sing some harmony for her..... they seem to have lots in common these
days.... politics and the River, and 4 year olds...and the colds they
bring home....
