(I sent this a couple days ago but haven't seen it on the list so I am
re-sending, sorry if anyone gets it twice, I think I may have sent it to the
wrong address.)
Hi everyone,
February cards are upon us, which means that it's also time for the 2008
Dar's Birthday Project! This year we're going to use PledgeBank again,
because it was such a handy online application last year. This will be the
11th project that we've done as a group from year to year! Here's the

Background - The idea for the "Dar's Birthday Project" began around April
19, 1996 when Dar asked us members of the Dar list to please stop bringing
her chocolate cake at concerts. She appreciated the thought and was very
gracious about it in that special Dar way, but one can only eat so much
chocolate cake, after all.
For the rest of 1996, we considered this, and hit upon an idea: for 1997,
how about us Dar-listers doing community service projects in honor of her
birthday, compiling them into a book or packet, and giving that to Dar
instead of cake? This seemed to make sense, because a great number of us
were already civic-minded, and Dar cares deeply about the environment and
society.

So here's what to do this year if you'd like to participate:
1. Go here and sign the pledge - we'd like to get at least 25 people this
year (though the goal on the form says 10):

2. In the Comments section, write a note about what you're doing in honor
of Dar's birthday.
3. If you have any pictures of your project you'd like to submit, send them
to me and I'll post them on http://sagreen.tripod.com/dar/birthday
Here's to another successful Dar-list celebration of Dar's birthday!
