With all due respect, but Dar supporting Obama's race is just horrible
news. In what way does she exactly think Obama is going to be an alternative
at all?

There is an interesting piece in The Nation this week by Christopher Hayes,
who says Obama is "the Left's best chance to, in Buchanan's immortal
phrasing, take back the bigger half of the country. It's a chance we can't
pass up." I guess Dar agrees.

The interesting thing about the piece is that it quietly sums up what is
wrong with progressives supporting Democrats like Obama, but then goes on
supporting Obama **passionately**. Great! He says: "Ultimately [...] the
future judgments and actions of the candidates are unknowable, obscured
behind time's cloak. Who knew that the Bill Clinton of 1992 who campaigned
with Nelson Mandela would later threaten to sanction South Africa when it
passed a law allowing the production of low-cost generic AIDS drugs for its
suffering population [...]".

The point is that this example is
exactly WHY it is horrible that Dar supports a centrist liberal like
Obama. This is
what Democrats do. They are part of the system, the do not change it.
