Hi. My name is Howie and I'm a lurker. I wasn't always a
lurker. In fact, I was one of the first people to sign up for the
Dar List back when Mark Ferguson started it, spinning it off of the
Folk Music Digest. I used to post quite often too. Anyway, I went
to Dar's April 16 gig in Londonderry, NH with my friend Amy Putnam, a
long time Dar lister and FRFF veteran, and we were taken with the
fact that there was a full house and...and...and...we didn't see
anyone we knew. Didn't use to be that way. But wait. At the end of
the show, hanging out waiting to say hi to Dar, there at the merch
table was Jennifer! Jennifer Mosier. Only now she's Jennifer
Franklin. And then there was Joe Luca. He's still Joe Luca. My
brain skipped a beat. You see, the three of us "performed" together
in a list adventure called "The Madmen Poets," the very mention of
which may send shivers down well over a dozen spines out there. And
if that didn't generate some amazement, this will - next month, May,
2008, is the tenth anniversary of the, er, project.
So, with the confluence of the various threads and thoughts that
night brought on, I'd like to call for a Lurker's Parade, starting
(appropriately enough) on May Day, and lasting for a week, until May
7. The idea of a Lurker's Parade is for people who used to be on the
list in any capacity, and who have become barely active (or even
inactive), to pop in and say hello and let old friends have a chance
to say hi to each other. Naturally, anyone can post to the list at
any time - no barriers there. This is just to give the idea a few
days to percolate and possibly be networked out to former listfolk,
and on May 1 let the Lurker's Parade begin!
Oh yeah. The April 16 gig, by the way, was great. Dar was in fine
form, and it was obvious from the laughter at THOSE lyrical moments
that there were a lot of newbies in the audience. A few new songs as
well, the most memorable being Push The Button. As for the venue -
don't get me started - let's just say that I have issues and leave it
at that. Overall, it was one fine night.

Posting Again
Have I got everything? Am I ready to post?
Is it going to be wild, is it gonna be the best time?
Or am I just a-saying so-o-o-o? Am I ready to post?
What do I hear when I say I hear the call of the list?
