[dar-list] Music lately

Who is the next Dar? Well....we're all different aren't we? I am older than
Dar...and my 23 year old daughter introduced me to Ani who I am quite
enjoying. I started listening to Vampire Weekend last month and I've enjoyed
them. (Just put on the headphones at Barnes & Noble and gave a listen. That's
how I discovered Dar's music.) Who Gives a Fuck About an Oxford Comma?
(There's a song we can get behind--young white college boys, ska....kind of
reminds me how the Kingston Trio must have been in the early days.) I also
discovered the John Butler Trio this year (latecomer to them perhaps), Brett
Dennen is still a favorite and he is coming up with a young following, Feist
is someone I found in the last year as well. I can imagine all of them being
part of a folk/alternative festival...and wouldn't it be great? Falcon Ridge
is far away for me....and these are scary times with fuel skyrocketing and all
the purse strings tightening. I came close to attending last year, but didn't
have the money. Who knows if your airline ticket is even actually a ticket? I
really wanted to go to Australia for the Blues and Roots Music Festival during
spring break....but I didn't have a few thousand dollars. (That was to hear
John Butler Trio and others....Brett Dennen, JBT, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
and Dar inspire me the most these days.) But I still bought tickets to
Ani--yep charged it--, and if Dar makes her way to California I'll probably be
there. Patty Griffin is phenomenal as well, but she's not younger than Dar
either now is she?

P.S. Watched The Graduate last night on television....fun to listen to the
music and enjoy.
