Deana,
I think Dar is already beginning to think about her song with respect to
her son. She obviously is crazy about him, and has been performing the
song at most if not all of her recent shows, including her DVD show.
You're right about how fast it all goes by. My daughter is nine years
old now, and I'm realizing that she's halfway done being at home with us
-- in another nine years she'll be in college. I try to "cheer her on"
all the time and I've already taken her to the mountains (Catskills) and
to the sea (Jersey shore). :)

Subject: [dar-list] The One Who Knows
I will always remember dancing and listening to The One Who Knows with
my
daughter at the John Anson Ford Theatre in Hollywood -- near the
Hollywood
Bowl but so intimate and small--the other side of the freeway. We were
under
the stars and my daughter was growing up and that song still touches me
since
I have two children--22 now and 17. There were most definitely tears of
joy
and recognition as we sang along. I don't know if I've always been able
to
just cheer them on, but that is my hope and intention as a mom. My
daughter
has been on the other side of the world these past few years.....and I
know
where the moon is shining on her.....and it's as far from home as you
can get.
It did all go by so fast.....and you don't know it will until it does.
She is
a gift to me. My son will soon be out there too.....so I am enjoying all
the
time that I can with him this last year of high school. And love does go
as
far as we want it too....beyond this lifetime....to the other side of
the
world.....and just down the hallway to our childrens' rooms. Cherish the
time.....even when called upon to chauffeur late at night to faraway
events or
to pick someone up for various reasons in the early morning hours.....or
to
toss and turn and hurt with worry. I wonder how Dar will feel about her
song
as her son does come of age and heads "out there." You don't know until
you
are part of it.
Deana
We live in a rainbow of chaos.
