Dear Dar-list...
It's raining in California--praise be to all spirits! It's a blessing. It's
the end of the summer. I didn't sign up for cards this year since I flaked
last year. If you get a card from me you were on my list last year.....mejor
tarde que nunca....at least most of the time. I've been on the moon with those
children that got sent off. The school year is promising to be challenging.
My latest musical experiences.......the incredible amazing talented ambassador
to the world STEVIE WONDER!! It was the most amazing night under the stars and
moon in Santa Barbara. If he extends this tour you must find a way to be part
of the music spirit and community with him. He had three percussionists with
full drum kits, two guitarists, one bass player, his own grand piano and
keyboard (and harmonica of course) and two other keyboardists, three back up
singers including his daughter Aisha who sat with him on the bench for "Isn't
She Lovely." He brought his deepest spirit and love with him and we all drank
in the shower from the sky and air. He was in fine voice! The moon rose over
the Santa Barbara Bowl and we grooved and appreciated the glory of Stevie!
Thank you Stevie! He played nonstop for almost three hours....started offf
with most of the music from Innervisions. Wowie wow wow!
Jackson Browne is coming to Ojai to support our raptor center.....and Brett
Dennen was here in August for music to support healthy foods in our schools.
I'll see Brett again soon with the John Butler Trio (no idea about
them--anyone else?) I did see Patty Griffin not too long ago. What a voice. No
Dar since last May....but that's not too bad is it?
I wonder if I will have a Dar party. I am a bit ambivalent....but I sent in
the questionnaire. (Kept changing my mind....very busy lately.) It just means
getting my sh** together at home....declutter etc. (VERY challenging for me.)
But for Dar it's worth it. Or maybe showing it somewhere else....I have some
good possibilities. The GUITAR would be so cool!!!! We shall see what
happens.
Just bought Sean Hayes "flowering Spade" since Brett Dennen kept on raving
about him. Yes, I do like it! And all of us Dar fans: if you haven't given
Brett Dennen a listen you should as soon as you can. He is getting bigger and
bigger and he is a song writer that will touch your soul and spirit as well as
Dar--and that's saying a lot.
Well, I'm off to keep on enjoying the rain. YES!
Deana
