Pheonixville Pa was a dar love fest..... I got there early to find
Lucy Wainwright Roche sitting in her SUV behind me..... Lucy is a
fresh voice who is worth hearing whenever she is near your town. She
has given up her prior jobs as "Stephen's babysitter" and 2 and 3rd
grade teacher to follow her Calling.... Singing and songwriting....
and she is pretty good at it... After spending much time with LWR, i
can say she is one nice person..... A recommendation by Dar Williams
cant be bad either...

Much to my surprise and treat..... Amy Whipple came in with Jen T....
Joanne from DC, laurina and bobbi and sally from the other side of the
Chapin family and PA, Dennis Whelan, Marika and Saxon and me.... I
think we were all accounted for..... the Darlist was out in forces....
But there were NO DVDs on the merch table yet....

Dar was in a green tunic and jeans but she was in great or better yet
Grand voice...

Lucy and I got horribly lost coming back to NYC and i ended up in
Philly.... so i crawled in really late....

lucky for me..... Friday night was Westbury and Dar with Nanci
Griffith and Judy Collins..

when i got there, i was told that Dar was starting her sound check so
i went to check on her...I actually caught Judy Collins sound check as
i walked through the theater.... As quiet as a mouse, i sought out Dar
and was greeted by her parents and mother in law and husband... so we
all attended Dar's sound check...

both Judy and Nanci could not have been complimentary to Dar's
abilities and how nice a person she was.... I am sure it made her
parents proud... it sure made me proud to say i know Dar...
Dar and Judy Collins in the same sphere for me is better than Dar and
Joan Baez and that was pretty special too.... Dar Williams is vocally
similar to Judy Collins, they both have stunning blue eyes and Dar's
hair is as thick as Judy's.... Dar adopted Joan's commitment to the
world and to doing "right things" and her songwriting is in direct
linage of Joni Mitchell.. how magical, that Dar Williams is the sum of
the best of these great women who came before her..... and are still
available to her....

Spring Street again... no she switched quickly to Mercy of the Fallen
February for Nanci Griffith and a warning so nanci can put in ear buds
so she wouldnt ruin her makeup...
The Babysitter's here

Nanci also had a 30 mniute set... She too did songs such as Hard Life,
Love at the Five and DIme. Simple Life, From a Distance

Judy Collins was stunning in black with her 12 string guitar... She
started with Chelsea Morning and took us through the years since folk
city to present... Including Harry Chapin's  Cats in the Cradle,
assorted celtic style folk songs snippets, american folk songs
snippets, Both Sides Now... she picked songs from Wildflower and ended
with some Beatles covers from her latest cd.... Yesteday, In my
Life.... when im 64......

All three women were in grand voice and it one of those nights you
never forget...

I am sure it was for Dar and her family too..... what a special night....
