Happy Autumn,
Summer's almost over and FRFF number 19 has passed, a wonderful year with the
debut of The Strangelings whose members are no strangers to us FRFFers, also
the Lovell Sisters, Barcelona, Eilen Jewell, Polka King Jimmy Sturr and many
others. We are beginning plans for NEXT YEAR, OUR 20TH ANNIVERSARY FRFF, hard
to believe. This 3rd full Enewsletter of 07 has info on:

1 - Next year's dates, always the 4th weekend in July, that's July 24, 25,
26, 27, 2008, our 20th anniversary. On the beautiful Dodds Farm, 44 CR 7D,
Hillsdale, NY. Many past alums will grace the FR stages, stay tuned for
updates.
2 - FESTIVAL AT SEA WITH KERRVILLE AND FALCON RIDGE b JANUARY 21-26 2008
Can't wait for next summer's FR and Kerrville Folk Fests? Join us on the

3 - Since the demise of the FR Rides list many of you have asked about
another rideboard, msg board, place to comment, discuss etc. The Falcon Ridge
Forum
will be debuting on our website shortly, a simple chronological Bulletin Board
where all of the above can take place. No subscriptions, no additional Emails
filling your inbox. It should be up and running in the next few weeks.
4 - Results of the FRFF audience survey for the Top 3 Showcase Artists are
in. In addition to an invite to do the Most Wanted Song Swap and workshops at
FR
08, the top voteds will do our annual preview tour in May. This will be our
11th P Tour. More details shortly on our website.
>From a total of 1160 audience surveys voting for their fave 3, the results
are:
1 - Anthony da Costa - garnering votes from just over 40% of the voting
audience
2 - Lindsay Mac - with 20%
3 - Joe Crookston and Randall Williams - just about tied with 18% and 17% of
the voters respectively
Honorable mentions to Joe Jencks & Vienna Teng who finished next, followed by
Chris O'Brien, Edie Carey, Nick Annis, Beaucoup Blue and Five2. SEVEN strong
HMs this year, each with more than 10% of the voting aud, a really STRONG
showcase.
Thanks to our 2007 SHOWCASE judges, Susan Forbes-Hansen, Jake Jacobsen and
Carole Metsger. Also Jim and Heidi at Sonicbids, Donna Grande, our mainstage
manager. And of course, to Grassy Hill Entertainment for major sponsorship of
the
showcase.
5 - The CT Folk Fest & Green Expo takes place in New Haven CT Sept 6-9 in New
Haven, some ticketed events & some free, details and complete sched at

6 - We are working on updated artist submission guidelines both for feature
subs and SHOWCASE. The major change is that the 2 submission periods will NO
LONGER overlap. We will accept feature subs thru Sonicbids from Sept thru Feb
1,
going up this week. Showcase subs Feb 1-May 1. This will eliminate any
confusion. Some who meant to apply for one ended up applying for the other by
mistake in the past.
