Hello, All -
Wondering if anyone on this list who lives in the northeast would consider
hosting a co-bill house concert for two of my very best friends, both musical
*and* personal? - I've known for a few weeks, but now it's official (full list
posted below) that Jennings & Keller and Nick Annis are in the Emerging Artist
Showcase at Falcon Ridge this year!
Laurie (Oudin) Jennings (who was the proprietress of the Main Street Cafe in
Homestead, FL for eight years before it unfortunately folded) and her partner
Dana Keller are a terrific duo - between her stunning vocals and
beautifully-crafted songs and his dobro and pedal steel accompaniment, it's
easy to see why they've been accepted into so many festivals (Suwanee
SpringFest, Susquehanna, SolarFest).B Jennings & Keller
(http://www.jenningsandkeller.com/sounds.htm) have just released their first
CD - I am honored to say the house in the CD title is none other than my own
(and the song does mention Dar...B :-)
Nick Annis is also amazingly talented, with a smooth James Taylor-like voice
and whip-smart lyrics - he has won his share of musical accolades as well
(Plowshares, Susquehanna, Wildflower!), and Chuck Brodsky recorded one of
Nick's spoken word pieces for his latest CD.B I hosted a sweet little house
concert series for four years - Nick was my last official show
(http://www.nickannis.com/december2004.html).
Laurie & Dana and Nick (accompanied by Elizabeth Crisfield on fiddle)
primarily perform their original songs, but they sprinkle in some gorgeous
covers too (Dar, Dave Carter, Richard Shindell, etc.) - in fact, just typing
all this makes me envious of a musical evening that's bound to be spectacular
(songwriting and harmonies and storytelling, oh my!).
The weekend before Falcon Ridge (Friday - Sunday, July 20 - 22) is a perfect
opportunity for house concerts - should you wish to take a chance on some
as-yet-not-well-known-but-insanely-talented musicians, e-mail them directly
(jenningsandkeller at yahoo.com, nickjannis at yahoo.com) and tell them Susan sent
you.B Thanks in advance for considering - Just Do It...B :-)
