Did you catch the part before the show started where Dar apologized to
Ellis for asking "Where's Ellis?", explaining that she was expecting to
see Ellis Paul?

Now, that's an easy mistake to make. The program, for brevity's sake,
often listed performers' first names only, such as "Richard" and
"Lucy", so it's perfectly understandable that Dar would assume that
"Ellis" meant Ellis Paul.

Speaking of the non-male Ellis, this weekend was when I became completely
enchanted by her. I saw her first at Folk Alliance 2004 and wasn't
so impressed. I then checked out a set of hers at FA 2005 and thought
a little more of her songs, but it was only after last year's Falcon
Ridge that I liked her enough to buy a CD.

And now I can't get enough of her. She sang both old favorites and
some great new tunes at Falcon Ridge, and I can't wait until I hear her
live again. She's appearing on mainstage at Rocky Mountain Folks
in a few weeks, and this is helping me lean towards attending again
this year after a few years off.

I always say that Gandalf Murphy is a group I love to watch live but I
can't imagine sitting at home and listening to them. But starting the
day after Falcon Ridge, I have found myself missing them and I've
actually been trolling iTunes looking for some relief to my yearning.

Like Susan, I bought a ton of CDs this year, mostly of new discoveries
made at the Emerging Artist Showcase or after-hours at the Budgie
Dome (see http://budgiedome.org/ ).

I can't believe I was thinking of skipping Falcon Ridge this year. Let
this be a lesson to myself that no matter the trouble or expense, it is
always worth it!
