Murph,
you are raising an interesting point that ive been thinking about
since last spring...
WFUV did a survey or poll on Essential Songs and Artists..... Except
for Joni Mitchell
the top 30 were all men. Not only were they men but they were artists
that i would not have thought nailed those spots..... I would expect
Dylan, Neil Young, Willie Nelson, Elvis Costello, Springsteen, The
Band, The Byrds, the Beatles, Paul Simon etc all those Folk rockers
but i never expected The Allman Brothers, Van Morrison, The Stones,
Traffic, Faces etc...

the male dominated Essentials also led me to think that Maybe more
middle age men are voting... I wonder where the women are with their
favorite women artists.. FUV has a better representation of Women
artist then XPN recent polls..... im suspecting that more men vote
than women and therefore maybe the ones giving more money....the
playlists at least at FUV has leaned towards this trend....

they still play a decent rotation of women..... DAR, Patty Griffin,
ELH, Shawn Colvin, Rosanne Cash, Nellie Mckay, and all those AAA
pushed artists.... Yamagata, Madelyn Peyroux, and then they play
Bonnie Raitt, Indigos Girls, Nanci Griffith...

check the essential and current favorites on their website....

Both XPN AND WFUV are kind to Dar and she is great about lending her
art and talent for them..... Dar has done a house concert and a
members concert in the last 6 months for FUV..... let alone appear at
3 FUV sponsored concerts this summer- fall .....
and there will be more

ive seen her at 3 for XPN as well......

Dar has a soft spot for both stations....and is grateful for the
airplay and support, especially when she was a boy.....
