As you guys always write down those nice reviews, I will write some from the
Netherlands.
But first...
I subscribed a few months ago to the Dar list and have posted one time
before but did not tell who I am. So here's a little intro...
I'm 27 and live in the Netherlands at a small town in the eastern part of
the country which is near the German border. I'm a software developer and
mainly work in the western part of the country. That involves a lot of
traveling, so Ive got a lot of time listening to Dar.
Found out about Dar on the internet 2,5 years ago. Back then my dad was
having surgery and I just had to kill the time while waiting (he turned out
okay). Thats when I found Dars site and got interested. There were some
songs that you could listen to from the Beauty of the Rain. It was just that
sweet powerful voice that caught me...Listened to some more stuff on the
internet, ordered her cds and became a real fan. Certainly after seeing her
in 2 shows earlier this year.
It was great to see/hear Dar again yesterday in Tiel
On my way up there on the Freeway I wondered why there where so many trucks
at the other side of the road. Turns out they may not enter Germany before
22:00 because of their national holiday Tag der Deutschen Einheit. Got in
some traffic jams but calculated that in so I was on time. Was my first time
in Tiel. The concert was in a small room of a theater and there were about
50 people.
First Caroline Herring came on stage. Don't know her and Jeffrey's stuff
that well to write down a set list. Caroline invited Jeffrey and they did a
song together which sounded great.
Next Jeffrey Foucoult came on and plugged in a few things while he said "You
guys are so quiet". Well he was right about that. To quiet if you ask me.
Well I have to blame myself to. Hope the audience (including me) will loosen
up a bit the next shows. Well next time I will make a BIG SOUND. They
deserve that!
After a little break Dar came on stage with a man named Keith who played a
keyboard. Didn't see him before. Does he play on more shows? I hardly heard
him because his volume was set very low and got overplayed by Dar.
Set list:
Spring Street
If I wrote you
Teen for god
The Hudson
Mercy of the fallen
Blue light of the flame (Actually the only song where I heard Keith play)
When I was a boy
February
Then we clapped, they all came on stage and got a tube (?) with apples in it
from the theater.
Dar was great but it was short to. Luckily there are much more shows to come
so I will not complain about that. Im very thankful she takes the time to
tour here again at all those places.
Well looking forward to the next show this Friday. Note that the show of
Thursday in Hengelo is moved to 13 October. Caroline Herring will not be
there. Shes replaced with the Watchman. A Dutch singer/songwriter but dont
know his stuff.
I'll probably be able to catch a lot of shows. Some are really close to my
area, which is not what Im used to. I always have to travel to see/hear
what I want. So this is going to be a great week. Friday in Hoogeveen. On
Saturday me and my wife planned a weekend in Utrecht to see a musical (Maybe
my babysitter will be the star. Dont think so) and guess who's playing
there the next day? Well you already know that. So Sunday again in Utrecht
and then Eindhoven on Monday. Busy weekend with Dar. Life's great...
Hope she will play youre aging well. That was requested yesterday by
someone but that would mess up her tuning. So she promised to play it some
other time.
Sander
