Alrigght, time to post about the show last night. We arrived at 5:30. We
hung around for a while, heard dar soundcheck, and saw Lucy and Susan in the
lobby. FYI- Dar was the headliner, but Lucy Kaplansky, Vance Gilbert, and Susan
Werner did a workshop beforehand about writing and they each played four
songs. We all went out to a nice italian restuarant and had a great time (save for
the diet coke/ice tea confusion). We got back and took our seats and
watched, what I though, was the best concert expierence I have had in a long time.
Here were their sets,

Vance Gilbert
10,000 Skies
Unfamiliar Moon
Courage (cover)
'Judge' (new)

Susan Werner
I Cant Be New
Give Me Chicago Anyday
Never My Love (cover)
'I Would Like To Think' (new)

Lucy Kaplansky
Ten Year Night (harmonizing was bonechillingly perfect)
Manhattan Moon (new)
'Goodbye' (new, about her fathers dying, very sad)
A Brian Perry song, the name escapes me

Dar did come out near the end, for two rounds

Dar Williams
I Know What Kind Of Love This Is (with Lucy)
'I Never Took' *

*Dar said she hasnt written in over a year, but this was a song she never
got to finish. I really enjoyed it, hope she finishes it. There was a line
about a house of cards that was really great, wish I could remember it.

Susan and Vance adlibbed the rest of the lyrics for I Never Took, Vance is
so hilarious.

Dar left the stage and the three closed with an amazing version of "Heaven
Help Us All" which was really, really great. That opening set was worth
admission ten-fold. Great selection of people.

Intermission came and I got to talk to everyone I know..Sharon, Amy, Chris,
Gene, Isobel, Donna, Ivenette, George, Susan, Alice, Dennis, Esther, and so
many more. A lot of familiar faces, ecspecially having seen Susan Werner the
night before in Philadelphia.

Dar looked absolutely gorgeous, Sharon mentioned that she wore a new dress
in Ridgefield, I think this was the same one. It was gorgeous, her hair was
gorgeous, etc. She played..
                                                The Babysitters Here

If I Wrote You
The Hudson
You Rise and Meet The Day
Christians And The Pagans
Mercy Of The Fallen
February
Teen For God
Spring Street
When I Was A Boy
E: We Learned The Sea

She was accompanied, beautifully might I add, by Susan Werner on piano on
February and When I Was A Boy. It was a nice set, and good to see Dar again.
That was the 16th dar show I have seen, if you're counting.

If anyone has pictures, please share- the few I took came out mediocre at
best.

"Sheila tells the policeman, 'I've got all of his phone messages here on a
cassette marked 'Death Threats'. No, he never sent any letters, he's dyslexic
so he doesn't like to write anything, ever. It's funny, he always said how
that made him more compassionate...'"- Susan Werner, Bring 'Round The Boat
